Judge Edward R. Becker — United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit
Jerome is a principal and founding member of Marcus & Marcus. He has practiced privately since 1993, first with Berger & Montague, P.C., where he was a shareholder until he left in 2006 to form Marcus & Auerbach LLC, a litigation firm principally representing clients on the plaintiff’s side in class actions and other complex commercial litigation, with a special focus on the insurance industry. Marcus & Marcus was formed in 2022, and at that firm Mr. Marcus continues to focus on the representation of plaintiffs in complex commercial and other litigation, with a focus on insurance products.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Marcus served an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and as Special Assistant to the Legal Adviser, United States Department of State. He clerked for the Hon. Edward R. Becker of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He is an alumnus of the University of Chicago’s College (1980), Business School (1981) and Law School (1986). He was the founding Executive Editor of the University of Chicago Legal Forum, and was Assistant Editor of the University of Chicago Law Review. He is a member of the American Law Institute. He has served on the boards of directors of several Jewish day schools for over thirty years, and as President of the boards of two of those schools.
Mr. Marcus is co-counsel in Texans for Israel v. United States, filed on August 6, 2024, challenging Executive Order 14115, which empowers the President to sanction Americans, without prior hearing, whenever they take action in support of Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria that are contrary to the current policies this administration.
